I'm an accountant by trade but a country girl at heart. I was raised on a farm loving outdoorsy things like running barrels, riding four-wheelers, and playing in the mud, but my horses have always been my favorite. My main inspiration is Sonny - my beautiful, dark-colored buckskin that's the color of honey - my spirit animal. I've had a lot of horses over the years, but Sonny is the horse that I’ve had the strongest bond. He's been in our family for 17 years, and mine for 9 of those years. He is one of the most majestic animals I've ever been around, and he inspires me in so many ways and has been my “therapy” through some hard times.

I wanted a name for my business that was a little country and western but still inclusive of those outside the horse world. As I thought of words to describe my vision, I pictured Sonny in the summertime. When he sheds his winter coat, you can see he has beautiful dapples. (Dapples are round areas of hair that appear more deeply or differently colored than the base or surrounding coat.) Dapples represent happy, healthy horses, and that's what I want for every person who shops in my store; to feel happy and healthy and be their best self.

Dappled was the perfect word, but I wanted to pair it with something that would tie it back to our home-state of Tennessee and create the vibe I wanted for my store. I didn't want a stuffy, boring ladies boutique. I wanted a place that's fun and classy, a place people are excited to shop in. So, I did some research and discovered that the Tennessee state gem is a Pearl, and I realized that combining 'Dappled' and 'Pearl' create a beautiful analogy for the women who shop at my store. I don't want the perfect persona of a woman. I want women who can feel good about themselves, regardless of their size, age, hair color, skin color, whatever. I want them to feel happy, healthy, and precious.
